The upcoming Yatri P2 electric scooter appears to be inching closer to reality. The Nepal Drives team recently caught a fleeting glimpse of what is believed to be Yatri Motorcycles’ much-anticipated P2 electric scooter during a road trip towards Tokha–Jhor–Surya Chaur.
While en route to Nuwakot for a scheduled shoot, the team briefly spotted a heavily camouflaged electric scooter riding ahead. The sighting was momentary, but just long enough to notice a blurred Yatri and Sipradi logo peeking through the camouflage.
The scooter moved quickly, leaving little opportunity to pursue it or capture a clear view. Shortly after, the rider veered off towards Surya Chaur, while our team continued onward to Nuwakot—hoping this would not be the last time the P2 is seen testing in the real world.
A Larger, Sharper Presence on the Road
Despite the limited view, the camouflaged scooter made a strong impression. It appeared noticeably large in proportion, with a stance that looked sharp and dynamic rather than compact and conservative.
Even under heavy camouflage, the scooter projected a sophisticated, industrial aesthetic that clearly sets it apart from conventional electric scooters currently on sale in Nepal.

From the spotted glimpse, one of the most distinctive elements was the aluminium swingarm paired with a mid-mounted motor—an uncommon and premium configuration in the scooter segment. This layout not only hints at improved weight distribution but also suggests a strong focus on performance and durability.
Aggressive Design Meets Practicality
The rear profile stood out with sharp, aggressive body lines and a muscular tail section. The scooter was seen riding on blacked-out alloy wheels—likely a 14-inch setup—moving away from traditional rounded scooter designs towards a more “naked,” modern look.

Adding to its practicality, the P2 appears to feature a spacious flat floorboard and a wide bench seat with a short pillion grab rail designed with everyday urban comfort in mind.
Suspension and braking hardware further indicate that this scooter is being engineered for Nepal’s challenging road conditions. The presence of a dual-sided rear spring suspension along with disc brakes at both the front and rear points to a robust setup aimed at stability, control, and rider confidence.

A Strategic JV with a Strong After-Sales Advantage
Announced in June 2024, the P2 project marks a strategic joint venture between Yatri Motorcycles and Sipradi Trading. The collaboration brings together Yatri’s cutting-edge EV design and engineering expertise with Sipradi’s four-plus decades of automotive experience and a robust distribution backbone.
Beyond product development, this partnership could prove to be a major differentiator in the market. As a Sipradi–Yatri JV, the P2 is expected to benefit from one of the strongest after-sales and service networks in the country—an area that remains a key concern for many prospective electric two-wheeler buyers.
Reliable service support and long-term ownership confidence are likely to play a decisive role in accelerating EV adoption, and this is where the P2 could enjoy a clear advantage over newer or less-established players.
With the test mule now being spotted on public roads, it may only be a matter of time before Yatri officially pulls the wraps off the P2. Until then, we will be keeping a close watch—hoping to catch the scooter again, this time in clearer view.
